Abstract

This Order regards the plenary powers of the fishing inspectors related to the protection of economic and other legal interests of the Russian Federation in the internal sea, territorial sea, EEZ and on the continental shelf of the Russian Federation, and also related to the protection outside the EEZ of the Russian Federation of the anadromous fish stocks forming in the rivers of the Russian Federation. The fishing inspectors shall have the following rights: (a) to stop and inspect fishing vessels; (b) to inspect fishing permits and fishing gear; (c) to suspend fisheries for research purpose carried out with the violation of federal legislation and international agreements; (d) to detain the infringers and to seize fishing gear and illegal catch; and (e) to draw protocols on the infringement of the national and international fisheries legislation.
