Abstract

The state protection forest strips situated in the dry lands of the European and in the Asian parts of Russia represent unique artificial ecosystems. The total area of the state forest strips in the European part is of 102.8 thousand hectares and in the Asian part is of 24.3 thousand hectares. The main tasks of forest management are rise of viability, longevity, protective functions of the state forest strips and reforestation on suitable soil. Sanitary and intermediate felling in the state forest strips shall be carried out for the purpose of the improvement thereof, strengthening protective functions and the formation of the optimum structure of the forestation. There shall be no limitation of felling age. In the state forest strips either partial or total conversion shall be carried out. In case of occurrence of mass nidi of forest pests there shall be applied extermination arrangements with the utilization of biological and chemical preparations in conformity with the validated List.
