Abstract This Order prohibits artisanal fishing net use (called 'malhadeira') between 1 September and 31 January within the following lakes: Aramanai, Mauari, Itarim, Buiuçu, Maracá, Enseada Grande, Tomé, Munguba, Feliciano, Laguinho and Santa Terezinha. Permanent prohibition within the rivers: 'Aritapera' and 'Amazoninha' estuary until 'Santo André' estuary. It also prohibits 'Liposarcus pardalis' trade, including in fish meal trade for a period of three years. Canoes must not exceed the number of three per fisherman/collector. Each canoe only may use five 'malhadeiras' not exceeding 150m of extension (with minimum mesh of 7cm). Sanctions shall be regulate by Decree No. 3.179 of 21 September 1999.
