It shall be applicable to examination of cattle imported from countries where outbreaks of bovine spongiform encephalopathy (BSE) have taken place in the past seven years. The following categories of cattle slaughtered for human consumption shall be subject to examination: cattle over 18 months of age imported from countries that have experienced an outbreak of bovine spongiform encephalopathy (BSE) and that, prior to slaughter, showed behavioural or clinical signs typical of central lesions. Until the examination results become available, the carcasses of slaughtered animals covered by this Order shall be stored in a separate refrigerated compartment.
