Abstract

This Order establishes the third amendment to Order No. 90/2013, defining the management model, including quota allocation, for surface longline fishing of swordfish in the Atlantic Ocean and in the Mediterranean Sea. Amendments deal with administrative and legal proceedings related to sword fishing activity. The Director General of the DGRM decided that, whenever the utilization rate of the swordfish quota for the North or South Atlantic Ocean of 5° N, as at 30 September and 31 August of each year, is less than 70%, the fishing of this species may be open to all vessels licensed to operate in each area with a surface longline.
