Abstract

In view of the provisions of Law No. 12.651 of 25 May 2012 and of Complementary Law No. 140 of 8 December 2011; Decree No. 4.339 of 22 August 2002 and Decree No. 8.975, of January 24, 2017; and what appears in Administrative Proceeding No. 02000.016995/2018-93, establishes the following measures: The cutting of Souari nut trees (Caryocar spp.) is prohibited in areas located outside the limits of the Amazon biome, except in the case of planted species. In cases where the licensing agency attests to the inexistence of a technical and locational alternative for the implementation of a project that entails the cut referred to in this Order, the suppression may be authorized through the adoption of mitigating and compensatory measures to ensure the conservation of the species, to be defined by the said licensing body.
