Abstract

This Order establishes sanitary and epidemiological requirements for ensuring radiation safety of potable water. It shall be destined for natural and legal persons dealing with selection of potable water abstraction sources, operation of centralized and non-centralized potable water supply systems, bottling of potable water and potable water quality control. Radiation and hygienic potable water assessment shall include three stages: (a) determination of summarized alpha- and beta-particle activities of radionuclides in water; (b) determination of specific activity of radionuclides in potable water; and (c) hygienic assessment of potable water in accordance with radiation safety criteria. Radiation control shall be carried out in places of water abstraction, before supply of potable water to potable water distribution network and at checkpoints of distribution water supply system.
