Abstract This Order, composed of 14 articles, establishes general dispositions for sport fishing to be applied within all national territory and defines competences and functioning procedures for all interested authorities acting in cooperation with the Brazilian institute for Environment and Natural Resources –IBAMA. In particular, the Order defines procedures, requirements and fees for obtaining fishing licences. To this end, the Order provides a classification of sport fishing under three main typologies (fishing with boats, fishing without boats, underwater activities). Moreover, the Order defines the limits for capture and transport (in terms of size and weight) depending on inland waters or marine waters. Finally, the Order rules on fishing competitions.
