Abstract

This Order establishes rules and regulations for the functioning of the Federal Service on Intellectual Property, Patents and Trademarks (ROSPATENT) in the process of carrying out functions it is entrusted with and cooperation with other federal executive bodies. Rospatent shall be the authorized federal executive body in the sphere of protection of intellectual property rights, patents, trademarks and places of origin of commodities. It shall carry out the following functions: (a) acceptance and registration of applications for registration of trademark, service mark, place of origin of commodities, and also attribution of exclusive right to use previously registered places of origin of commodities; and (b) examination of applications for acknowledgement of trademark or place of origin of commodities widely used on the national territory without legal protection to be considered commonly known in the Russian Federation.
