Order No. 288 of the Ministry of Natural Resources validating the list of waterbodies subject to federal state supervision and inspection.

This Order establishes that the following waterbodies, including water conservation zones and riverside protective belts, used by natural and legal persons shall be subject to federal state supervision and inspection: (a) surface waterbodies located on the territory of two or more regions of the Russian Federation; (b) waterbodies used for national defence, operation of federal energy systems, federal transport and other public needs; (c) inland sea; (d) territorial sea; (e) waterbodies that are natural habitats of anadromous and catadromous fishes; (f) transboundary waterbodies; (g) waterbodies or parts thereof used for water supply of cities with the population of 100 thousand and over, and also for water abstraction by enterprises and organizations for the annual amount of water abstraction and effluent waste water discharge of 15 million metres; (h) waterbodies having negative impact on protected waterbodies or protected areas; and (i) waterbodies having negative impact on fishing reserves.
