Abstract The Order regulates the intervention of veterinarians to prescribe medicines/drugs for animals. The administration of such medicine for animals and their products destined to human consumption shall be regulated by veterinarians and a withdrawal period thereof shall be implemented: 28 days before slaughter, 7 days before delivery of milk, 10 days before delivery of eggs and 500 degree days (i.e. 100 days of 5°C water temperature, before delivery of fish). If a detectable residue of drugs is found in the animal(s), a closer examination of these must be applied in order to find the cause. All medicine administration activities must be registered.
