Abstract

The Ministry establishes that state nature reserve of federal significance “South Kamchatsky” shall have the status of complex (landscape) reserve and is destined for conservation of landscape and conservation, regeneration and reproduction of wildlife animal species, including aquatic biological resources, scientific research, ecological monitoring, education and tourism. Reserve shall be located in the Ust-Bolsherezk and Elizovo districts of Kamchatka region with total area of 225000 ha. The following activities shall be prohibited on the territory of reserve: (a) all types of hunting; (b) industrial fisheries, artisanal and sport fishing except for specific cases; (c) stay with hunting and fishing gear on the territory except for specific cases; (d) logging and procurement non-timber forest products except for fuelwood, non-timber forest products, forest food products and medicinal plants harvested by the local population for personal consumption; (e) irrigation and land reclamation; (f) application of chemicals and fertilizers; (g) recreational activity outside delimited areas; and (h) introduction and acclimatization of living organisms.
