Abstract

Regulation on bonitation of sheep establishes the procedure of bonitation of fine-wool sheep, semifine-wool, fur-bearing sheep and Ukrainian mountain Carpathian sheep species, the basic principles of selection, breeding and bonitation of sheep of different lines of reproduction. Bonitation of sheep - a comprehensive assessment of animals for breeding and productive qualities conducted in all farming enterprises, regardless of ownership, appurtenance and subordination, that breeding sheep. The purpose of bonitation - complex assessment of sheep, depending on which their breeding and production purpose is determined. Bonitation of sheep is performed annually in accordance with the order of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy of Ukraine. Bonitation of sheep shall not be performed on farms, which are subject to quarantine due to contagious diseases. The breed of animals is established on the basis of documents on their origin (pedigree cards and pedigree (genetic) resources certificates, records in sheep breeding herdbooks, etc.) and appraisal of their species. The productivity of sheep and their value are determined by the type of constitution, quantitative, qualitative and complex selection criteria. Bonitation of sheep shall be performed individually or by classes.
