The park is a budgetary, non-profit, nature conservation, recreational, cultural and educational, scientific research institution and is part of the nature reserve fund of Ukraine, protected as a national property, with a special regime of protection, reproduction and management. The Park lands are fenced if necessary. The park was created for the purpose of preservation, reproduction and rational use of typical and unique natural complexes of the Carpathian region, which have important environmental, scientific, aesthetic, recreational and healthcare benefits. The main tasks of the park are: (a) preservation and reproduction of valuable natural complexes and historical and cultural objects located on its territory, wild fauna and wild flora species; (b) creation of conditions for organized tourism and other types of recreational activities in natural conditions with observance of the regime of protection of protected complexes and objects; (c) conducting scientific research, including the study of natural complexes and their changes in the conditions of recreational use, development of scientific recommendations on environmental protection and rational use of natural resources; (d) ensuring the protection of its territory with all natural objects; (e) preservation of the gene pool of rare, listed in the Red Book of Ukraine, and typical plants, animals, birds, fishes and invertebrates; (f) study of ecosystem changes under the influence of natural and anthropogenic factors; (g) maintenance of the general ecological balance in the region; and (h) carrying out environmental educational work.
