Abstract

The Ministry establishes that state nature reserve of federal significance “Mordovia state nature reserve named after P.G.Smidovich” shall have the status of state environmental protection, scientific research and educational institution with the scope of conservation and study of unique natural processes, wild animal and wild plant genetic resources, some animal and plant populations, and unique ecosystems. State nature reserve “Mordovia state nature reserve named after P.G.Smidovich” shall be located in the Republic of Mordovia with total forested area 32148 ha. Reserve shall have the following purposes: (a) conservation of biological diversity, and ecosystem preservation; (b) research; (c) ecological monitoring; (d) ecological education; and (e) training of scientific personnel. The following activities shall be prohibited on the territory of reserve: (a) all types of hunting and fisheries; (b) any activity that can cause modification of the existing hydrological regime of soil; (c) transit passage of cattle; (d) construction; (e) application of chemicals and fertilizers; (f) timber extraction, except for miscellaneous felling, procurement of non-timber forest products; and (g) introduction and acclimatization of living organisms.
