The Regulation consists of 4 chapters and 1 annex establishing the requirements to be met in order to protect animal health during transports. This Regulation applies to the transport of animals performed by producers aiming at animal breed or fatten when transport is carried out on agricultural vehicles or other means of transport, and the geographical circumstances require seasonal transhumance of certain types of animals. It specifies involved animal species and detailed conditions of transport (Chap. 1); Transport and control on national territory (2); Imports (3); Final provisions (4). The annex (consisting of 5 chapters) specifies the aforesaid requirements according to the different animal species. Animals covered by CITES must be transported in accordance with the CITES Guidelines for the Transport and Preparation for Shipment of Live Wild Animals and Plants. Full text Portuguese
