Abstract

This Order amends and supplementing the Order of the President of the National Sanitary Veterinary and Food Safety Authority No. 64/2007 approving the sanitary veterinary norm on the organization and functioning of the Official veterinary inspection carried out by specialized personnel in establishments producing food of animal origin. Amended articles deal with the following issues: reports to the Unit and head office/service of the veterinary hygiene and epidemiology whenever failures occur in units referred to Annex 1 due to official controls in accordance with the Programme on the surveillance, prevention and control of animal diseases, those transmitted from animals to humans, animal and environmental protection, identification and registration of bovine, swine, sheep and goats and Programme of surveillance and control on food safety; illegal non-compliance specialist staff who provide supervision and official control units listed; sanitation procedures or any other measures deemed necessary to ensure product safety and compliance with applicable law; prohibiting the placing on the market, import or export of products of animal origin if they are of a potential risk for food safety; ordering recovery, the withdrawal and/or destruction of non-compliant animal products; proposal of prohibition of activities for units listed in the food industry for infringements of legislation; implementation of any measures it deems necessary according to legal provisions in order to achieve food safety objectives. The specialized personnel performing official control of veterinary units is obliged to supervise the enforcement of the health marking/identification, according to the legislation.
