Abstract

This Order lays down rules on port reception facilities for the delivery of waste from ships. Por reception facilities for waste from ships and cargo residues from ships shall be established in every Danish port. This Order covers all ships calling at a Danish port regardless of their flag, and all waste on board in such ships. The Danish Environmental Protection Agency may also order companies mentioned in Section 2 to establish port reception facilities for oil mixed ballast and tank washing waste. The por operator shall be responsible for establishing port reception facilities for the delivery of waste. The shipmaster of a ship calling at a Danish port is obliged to ensure that all waste transported by the ship is delivered to the port's reception facility in accordance with the relevant discharge standards laid down in the MARPOL Convention. A notification shall be given on the quantity and type of waste the ship is expected to have on board at call. The port operator shall draw up a plan for the reception and management of waste from ships, referred to in the Order as Waste Plans. Supervision and control of compliance with the provisions of this Order shall be the responsibility of the Danish Environmental Protection Agency.
