Abstract This Order sets regulations in the control of vesicular stomatitis affecting livestock destined to human consumption. Provisions require to immediatelly notify a veterinarian of any suspect cases through the Danish Veterinary and Food Administration (Ministry of Environment and FOod of Denmark). An epidemiological investigation shall begin pursuant to this notice and should include the following: 1) The length of time that vesicular stomatitis may have occurred on the premises. 2) Information on the possible origin of vesicular stomatitis at and the identification of other locations where animals of susceptible species may have become infected. 3) Information on the transport of susceptible livestock species from their farming locations, including the removal of dead animals of susceptible species. Once determined vesicular stomatitis cases on a farmz, the Danish Veterinary and Food Administration shall create a quarantine and surveillance zone around the farm. Vaccination against vesicular stomatitis is not allowed, however the Food Authorities may order vaccination of susceptible species on outbreak of vesicular stomatitis.
