Abstract

This Order establishes a periodical closed season for "Pomatomus saltatrix" fishing into coastal zones of the States of Rio Grande do Sul, Paraná and Santa Catarina. It consists of 6 articles prohibiting fishing from 1 November until 31 March of every year the aforementioned fish specie. For vessels not exceeding 10 mt. of lenght and performing fishing activity within 10 nautical miles from the coastline this prohibition starts on 1 December. During closed season all activities relevant with fishing, transport, storage, etc. of this fish specie not exceeding 40 cm. of size are strictly prohibited. It prescribes controls to be carried out by Ibama and sanctions to be paid by offenders in compliance with Decree-Law No. 221 of 28 February 1967 and Act No. 7.679 of 23 November 1988.
