Abstract

The Director of the Federal Forest Service orders the regional forest agencies, national parks administrations and aerial forest protection units to involve Cossack associations in protecting forests against forest fires, pests and diseases, and illegal logging. Cossack associations may be involved in the following activities: (a) protection of forests against infringement of forest legislation together with forest service officers; (b) spotting and extinguishing forest fires; (c) patrolling the most precious coniferous forests in periods of high forest fire risk; (d) protection of coniferous forests on New Year’s Eve; (e) control of forest management; and (f) lease of forest plots.
