Abstract

This Order establishes the status and plenary powers of the fishing inspectorate, which shall cover fishing areas allocated to relevant organizations for fishing activities and management of fishery resources and aquatic animals. The fishery inspectorate shall carry out the following functions: (a) protection, reproduction and management of fishery resources; (b) prevention and suppression of environmental offences; (c) protection of fishing water bodies against poaching; (d) safe keeping of fishing vessels and fishing gear in the fishing areas; (e) supervision and development of fisheries; and (f) prevention of illegal trade of catch. The fishery inspectorate shall have the following plenary powers: (a) to draw up reports on administrative offences; and (b) to detain unauthorized persons for illegal purchase or theft of catch.
