This Decree enters into force on the day of its publication.
Abstract

This Order, consisting of 5 articles and 1 Appendix, establishes sanitary procedures for the removal, segregation and disposal of Specified Risk Materials (MER) for Bovine Spongiform Encephalopathy (BSE) to be adopted by slaughtering centres for ruminants (cattle, buffalo, sheep and goats) in the State of Mato Grosso. The Specified Risk Materials (MER) of cattle and buffaloes are: brain, eyes, tonsils, spinal cord and distal part of the ileum (end of the small intestine). The Specified Risk Materials (MER) of sheep and goats are: brain, eyes, tonsils, spleen and spinal cord. The mentioned materials cannot in any event be part of the raw materials obtained from the slaughter of ruminants for the production of flour and derivatives. The Appendix specifies mandatory compliance procedures for removal, segregation and disposal of MER.
