Abstract

This Order provides for the prevention and control of outbreaks of banana tree pest. It establishes the mandatory destruction of banana plantations, in which phytosanitary management measures are not adopted and are abandoned. The Bahia State Agricultural and Livestock Protection Agency (ADAB) will notify the producer of the obligation to destroy bananas without pest control or abandoned. Technical assistance agents must provide each producer with a technical report, emphasizing the mandatory pest control in banana orchards. Failure to comply with the above mentioned provisions will imply notification to the producer by the ADAB, informing the compulsory destruction of the banana plantation. In addition, it creates the State Technical Commission (CTE) aimed to foster the development of the banana and heliconia production chain, through the adoption of technologies and phytosanitary management.
