Abstract

This Act continues the Ontario Energy Board and regulates its functions and powers; it consists of 131 sections and is divided into IX Parts. Part I states the objectives of the Board in the field of electricity and of gas. Part II concerns the operation of the Board. Part III provides gas regulation and the role of the Board in the sector, Part IV concerns gas marketing. Part V concerns electricity and related licensing requirements, Part V.1 contains the energy consumers’ bill of rights. Part VI concerns transmission and distribution lines, Part VII inspectors and inspections and compliance, Part VIII gas priorities and allocation and Part IX contains miscellaneous provisions, among others, on offences and penalties under the Act.
