Abstract The purposes of this Act are a) to ensure conservation, and prevention of waste, of oil sands resources of Alberta, b) to ensure efficient development in the public interest of the oil sands resources; c) to provide criteria and means for appraisal of oil sands resources; d) to cooperate with the Government in controlling pollution; f) to disseminate useful information regarding oil sands resources , and g) to ensure the observance of safe and efficient practices in the exploration of oil sands products. Sections 6 establishes that the Energy Resources Conservation Board may make any just and reasonable orders or directions deemed necessary to implement the purposes of this Act that are not otherwise specifically authorized by this Act. Sections 10 to 15 lay down provisions concerning the related various approvals and permits. The text consists of 26 sections.
