Abstract

The present Regulations are made under section 19 of the Northwest Territories Lands Act. In particular, the Regulations lay down provisions relating to the administration and disposition of oil and gas explorations in the Province. Section 2 establishes that for the purposes of these Regulations, Canada lands shall be divided into grid areas. The text – consisting of 110 sections – deals, inter alia, with the following aspects: land division, surveys, monuments, development wells, prohibitions, exploratory licences, exploration agreements, permitees, terms of permit, permit renewal, deposits, expenditure, oil and gas leases. Two Schedules are enclosed.
