Entry into force notes: The present Act enters into force on 26 February 1979.

Abstract: The purpose of the present Act is to: a) prevent waste; b) regulate all operations for the production of oil and gas in such manner that the greatest possible ultimate recovery thereof by prudent and proper operations and practices may be realized; c) allow each owner the opportunity of obtaining a share of the oil or gas from a pool; d) develop, process, utilize, protect and conserve the oil and gas industry; e) protect the environment with respect to operations of the oil and gas industry. The Act consists of 65 sections divided into 8 Parts as follows: Administration (I); Licences (II); Regulations and Orders (III); Oil and gas production (IV); Unit operations (V); Practice and procedure relating to hearings (VI); Miscellaneous (VII); Prohibition, offence and penalties (VIII).
