Abstract The Poultry Policy aims to address various interlinked concerns through a simultaneous and multi-pronged action with an emphasis on improvement in production technology and infrastructure, driving capital formation, re-structuring the incentives and streamlining the institutions. Its Objectives are: enable a conducive environment for commercial poultry farming in the State; promote backyard poultry farming for livelihood; produce 100 lakh egg per day and 100 TMT broiler meat per annum; promote creation of infrastructure like laboratories, processing units etc., and boost processing and distribution facilities. Commercial Poultry farming will be encouraged to create employment for the educated youths. State incentives viz. capital assistance and marketing for poultry products are essential.
