Abstract

The purpose of this Act is to provide a framework to enable the Governor in Council to make decisions on the management of nuclear fuel waste promoting a comprehensive, integrated and economically sound approach for Canada. Therefore an appropriate body is established to be known as Waste Management Organization whose main purpose is to submit proposals to the Government of Canada dealing with the management of nuclear fuel waste. The Act regulates also inspection activities and contains provisions on enforcement and penalties. The text consists of 32 sections.
