They, among other things, make district councils responsible for the enforcement of the Regulations within their area, define offences, and apply certain provisions of the Food Safety (Northern Ireland) Order 199 (sections 8 and 9 on inspection and seizure of suspected food and serving of applies certain provisions of improvement notices by authorised officers).
