Abstract

This Notice of the Department of Water Affairs brings provisions of the National Water Act regarding compulsory licensing into effect for a specified catchment area. The requirement of licensing shall apply to underground water as a water resource in terms of section 21(a) of the Act. Licensing is necessary for reasons of equal and beneficial water use, efficient water resources management and to protect water resource quality.
