Compliance of the Regulation is obligatory for all ship owners, ship operators, ship managers, port operators and the shipping community. The text provides that the discharge of wash water from open-loop exhaust gas scrubbers in Ghanaian ports and territorial sea is prohibited. The text requires for use of compliant fuels for vessels fitted with hybrid scrubbers in order to protect the marine environment and ensure that ports and territorial waters are clean.
