The Scheme concerns approval and monitoring of poultry establishments engaging in intra-Community trade of poultry and hatching eggs as required by Council Directive 2009/158/EC. This Directive prohibits exports of such products unless they originate from an establishment that is a member of the Northern Ireland Poultry Health Assurance Scheme and conforms to the requirements of the Directive. The Scheme also provides for powers for suspension or revocation of membership under specified circumstances.
