Abstract

The present Regulations are made under the Canada-Newfoundland Atlantic Accord Implementation Act. In particular, the Regulations lay down provisions relating to petroleum installations used in areas offshore Newfoundland. Section 3 establishes that for the purpose of ensuring the safety of an installation, no operator shall use the installation unless the equipment on the installation is arranged in accordance with these Regulations to a) provide for the safety of personnel; b) minimize damage to the environment; and c) enable easy access to the equipment. The text consists of 71 sections divided into 6 Parts as follows: General requirements (I); Analysis and design (II); Construction and installation (III); Operations and maintenance (IV); Records and reporting (V); Offences (VI).
