Abstract

The present Ordinance by the Federal Minister for Health and Consumer Protection contains at the outset a clause indicating its scope of application, as well as a definition clause relating to the various terms therein employed, such as "Newcastle disease", "diseased poultry", etc. Once the disease is ascertained in a certain place, all poultry is to be destroyed under official supervision. The plants have to be disinfected and cleaned according to EC regulations. Around an infected area a radius of 10 km has to be declared as protected zone. Slaughterhouses within the area have to be surveyed closely. The Ordinance consists of 17 articles divided into 5 Parts.
