This Regulation enters into force on 1 September 2017.

Abstract

The objective of this Regulation is to replace the Nature Conservation (Protected Areas Management) Regulation 2006 in order to provide for the ongoing management of protected areas declared under the Nature Conservation Act 1992, and in particular, to: a) provide for a system of permits and other authorities for the use of protected areas; b) include procedures and requirements relating to those permits and other authorities; c) regulate conduct in protected areas, with particular regard to conserving natural and cultural resources and values, and protecting human health and safety; d) include enforcement powers in relation to protecting the environment, human well-being and property; e) specify offences and penalties for those offences; f) include relevant definitions and schedules; and g) include transitional provisions to provide for continuity between the Nature Conservation (Protected Areas Management) Regulation 2006 and the Regulation.
