They: prescribe the conditions for recognising natural mineral water; apply restrictions on exploiting springs and the treatment, bottling, labelling, advertisement and sale of water intended to be sold as “spring water”; provide rules for the bottling, labelling, advertisement and sale of bottled drinking water; provide rules for the exploitation of natural mineral water springs and protection against pollution of such springs; prescribe the remedial action that must be taken by a food authority in case of non-compliance.
