Abstract

This Notice of the Minister of Water and Sanitation, authorised in terms of section 13(4) of the National Water Act publishes the notices for the classes of water resources in terms of section 13(1)(a) of the Act and resource quality objectives in terms of section 13(1)(b) of the Act for catchments of the Middle Vaal pursuant to section 13(4) of Act. Integrated Units of Analysis (IUA) are classified in terms of their extent of permissible utilization and protection as either Class I: indicating high environmental protection and minimal utilization; or Class II indicating moderate protection and moderate utilization; and Class III indicating sustainable minimal protection and high utilization.
