Abstract

The National Strategy on the Management of Disaster and Climate Induced Internal Dispacement (NSMDCIID) of Bangladesh is a sectoral policy with the following objectives:Create common and coherent basis for policy directions and action plans at the national and local levels; Adopt both preventive and adaptive measures to minimize the internal displacement caused by climate-related disasters; Guide development of sectoral programmes for the creation of conducive environments for safe, voluntary and dignified return/integration or relocation/resettlement of the Climate Induced Internally Displaced Persons(CIIPDs); Ensure effective and efficient management and access to entitlements; promote livelihood opportunities and overall human development of CIIDPs as part of the inclusive development programmes of the Government of Bangladesh. The policy aims to chalk out a comprehensive strategy covering all three phases of displacements: pre-displacement, displacement phase and postdisplacement.
