Abstract

The National Plan of Action of Belize for Reducing Incidental Catch of Seabirds in Long-Line High Seas Fisheries is a national policy with a sectoral approach. This policy is developed in accordance with the provisions of the International Plan of Action for Reducing Incidental Catch of Seabirds in Longline Fisheries of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations. The goal of this Plan is to implement full mitigation measures in an effort to reduce incidental catch of seabirds by its high seas fishing fleet by adopting and implementing new mitigation measures that have been introduced by regional fisheries management organizations.
