The Commission shall be a successor in title to the Kenya National Human Rights and Equality Commission established by Article 59 of the Constitution. The functions of the Commission shall include: (a) promote gender equality and freedom from discrimination in accordance with Article 27 of the Constitution; (b) monitor, facilitate and advise on the integration of the principles of equality and freedom from discrimination in all national and county policies, laws, and administrative regulations in all public and private institutions; (c) prepare and submit annual reports to Parliament on the status of implementation of its obligations under this Act; and (d) conduct audits on the status of special interest groups including minorities, marginalised groups, persons with disability, women, youth and children. After concluding an investigation or an inquiry under this Act, the Commission shall make a report to the State organ, public office or organization to which the investigation relates.
