Abstract

The amendments of the principal Act concern application and enforcement of Act and specific environmental management Acts and provides for matters relating to enforcement of the Act and specified Acts and administration of those Acts. Matters provided for include: designation of environmental management inspectors by Minister and MEC, functions of inspectors, general powers, seizure of items and other specific powers, routine inspections, power to issue compliance notices, objections to compliance notice, failure to comply with compliance notice, delegation of powers and duties by Minister and Director-General, validity of regulations, legal documents and measures, limitation of liability arising from exercise of power, etc.
