Abstract

The purpose of this Act is to provide for the establishment of a National Environment Protection Council, define its functions and powers and regulate its operation. Functions of the Council include: to make national environment protection measures and to assess and report on the implementation and effectiveness, in participating jurisdictions, of national environment protection measures. The Act is divided into the following parts: Preliminary (1); Establishment and membership of the National Environment Protection Council (2); Functions and powers of the Council (3); Meetings of the Council and establishment and meetings of its Committees (4); NEPC service corporation, NEPC executive officer and staff (5); Finance (6); and Miscellaneous (7).
