The Guidelines set the context for drought management in India, lay down the classification of drought and various institutions involved in drought management. These Guidelines provide for strategies and action plan in respect of drought assessment and early warning; prevention, preparedness and mitigation; climate change; micro irrigation systems, post-harvest management and water conservation; crop insurance; capacity building; community awareness and participation; relief and response; nutritional aspects of food security; cattle health care; implementation through drought management plans and related aspects of drought management.
