The Government may declare any land at its disposal to be a Reserved Forest in the manner provided for in the Act. The Act also contains provisions for the appointment of the Forest Settlement Officer and lays down the powers and functions of the Officer. Additionally, the Act covers the provisions on village forests, sale of forest produce and control of forest and waste land that is not owned by the Government.
