Abstract

The Act, consisting of 112 sections divided into XIV Chapters, provides the State Government the power to set up markets and constitute marketing committees to regulate the sale of agricultural produce. The Act also states that the government can set up special markets for specific commodities based on considerations such as market turnover. Additionally, the Act contains provisions on the composition, powers and functions of the marketing committees and also has provisions on contract farming.
