The Act also states that no multi-state co-operative society shall be registered under this Act, unless its main objects are to serve the interests of members in more than one state and its bye-laws provide for social and economic betterment of its members through self-help and mutual aid in accordance with the co-operative principles. Additionally, the Act provides for the establishment of federal co-operative that are federations of co-operative societies. The Act also lays down provisions for the registration, management, bye-laws of multi-state co-operative societies. Furthermore, the Act lays down the penalties for contravention of the provisions of the Act.
