Abstract

This Order grants powers to a veterinary inspector to impose restrictions on movement of animals in cases of disease or suspected disease on premises including land with or without buildings. These restrictions may be imposed together with the requirement of a licence to move animals. The Order also grants powers to the Secretary of State if he or she suspects that a disease exists in any area, to declare that area to be an infected area and to order investigations whether or not disease exists on any premises or means of transport. The veterinary inspector may also order cleansing and disinfection of any premises or means of transport.
