Subject Water Keyword Irrigation Institution Policy/planning Geographical area Africa, Eastern Africa, Least Developed Countries Abstract Project beneficiaries shall execute farming operations strictly in accordance with irrigation plans, cropping schedules and other rules set out by the Project Office and approved by the Council and the cooperative of project beneficiaries called CHAWAMPU (By-law 5, comma 1). Additional conditions with respect to the use of irrigation water are listed in By-law 5, commas (2)(3)(6). CHAWAMPU shall collect water charges from project beneficiaries (By-law 6). The nature of agricultural land shall not be altered without written approval of the Council and agricultural land shall be utilized in accordance with the cropping plan prepared by the Project Office and approved by CHAWAMPU (By-laws 8 and 9). If cultivation is impracticable, the project beneficiary shall petition with the Project Office and such petition shall be accepted with or without conditions (By-law 10).
